San Francico- city across the bay

We have been pretty lax about posting things, but we'll be back on track in 2009! Here are some pictures of fun we've had in the last few months. Best wishes to all!

Here are some pictures from a September 2008 foray into San Francisco's Chinatown.

The 1st Amendment at work- "Happy Happy Happy" man espouses his eccentric conspiracy theories while Jann smiles in front of Old Glory.
Chinatown shops have all sorts of colorful and...interesting gifts.
Including Xi'an warriors, nearly life size.
And some uh, other things...far larger than life size.

Here Jann laments that one gift required the massacre of at least a dozen abalone.This is Portsmouth Square, where SF was born. It is a meeting place for elderly Chinese men and women who snack and play card games and majong.
Jann tries to start her own game corner, forgetting (momentarily) that she isn't an elderly Chinese-American lady.
